About

Irish Filmmaker (The Stars Are Underground, The Master Musicians of Joujouka, ) and musician (80s delinquents The Babysnakes and Dublin punk legends Paranoid Visions) Daragh McCarthy has created a one-man band with a hundred members…

The Mighty Avon Jnr.

An album “HOLD EVERYTHING DEAR” has been released.

Influenced / inspired variously by John Berger (from whence the album title), Shape Note Singing, the Women of Greenham Common Peace Camp , Jenny Holzer, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, jungle death cults of the 80s, and collapse…

Written in Valencia and recorded in Dublin and Harlem; the record is cinematic, alternative / quasi-experimental, occasionally spoken-word. Minimal piano and double bass work, choral voices and epic agit-dance.

Produced by Daragh McCarthy: HOLD EVERYTHING DEAR was recorded in a handful of studios in Dublin and Buddhabug Studios in Harlem. A little guitar in Italy and the whole thing was helmed and brought over the line with Liam Mulvaney back at Bow Lane Studios Dublin. Where the guts of the work was done…

Mastering is by Harvey Birrell
